Description: <p>The Music of Billy Eckstine: Alto Saxophonist Christopher Hollyday, a New York &ldquo;Young Lion,&rdquo; was the youngest musician to play at New York&rsquo;s Village Vanguard. He toured with Maynard Ferguson’s big band, and today, is one of San Diego&rsquo;s most seasoned and respected jazz musicians. His latest recording &ldquo;Dialogue&rdquo; is receiving accolades nationwide. Hollyday currently performs in San Diego and throughout southern California as a jazz saxophonist soloist and with his Telepathy Quintet. Joining him to present the music of Billy Eckstine are: pianist Melonie Grinnell, an active local educator, performer, and a member of the Grossmont College Music faculty since 2001 and bassist Rob Thorsen, noted for his stylistic range and flexibility, who has long been a mainstay of the San Diego jazz scene. Ticket includes hors d&rsquo;oeuvres and free valet.</p>
