Description: <p>Culinary Historians of San Diego will present &ldquo;Tagines,&rdquo; featuring Kitty Morse via Zoom from her kitchen. Kitty will present a historical and culinary overview of Morocco&rsquo;s iconic stews, and much more. Kitty grew up in Casablanca, and is a lifelong fan of these slow cooked sweet or savory stews. She&rsquo;ll share her secrets of preparation and chat with her audience following the presentation. Kitty Morse was born in Casablanca of a French mother and British father, and came to the United States in 1964. She obtained her Master&rsquo;s degree at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Kitty is the author of nine cookbooks and a memoir, Mint Tea and Minarets: a banquet of Moroccan memories. The book was named Best Book/Arab Cuisine by the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. The e-book was also selected as Best Book Morocco by the Gourmand World Awards. Her best-selling Cooking at the Kasbah: Recipes from my Moroccan kitchen, is now in its tenth printing from Chronicle Books. Other titles featuring Moroccan cuisine include The Vegetarian Table: North Africa; Couscous; and The Scent of Orange Blossoms: Sephardic Cuisine from Morocco. Kitty&rsquo;s career as author, and food and travel writer, spans more than twenty-five years. Once a food columnist for the Los Angeles Times, Kitty has written for Bon Appetit, Fine Cooking and Eating Well. She created and hosted two television series, and introduced travelers to Morocco&rsquo;s cuisine and culture in 1983 with the first of her 23 annual tours. Her final tour was in April 2019.</p>
