Description: <p>Have you ever wondered what makes a successful screenplay before it can be made into a successful film, what separates a spec script from a production script or a shooting script, or how a screenplay differs from other forms of writing? Do you know when to follow the &ldquo;rules&rdquo; of a screenplay, when to break them and why? Join me as we wade through the ins and outs of screenwriting, the elements that comprise a successful screenplay, and how to identify these elements in successful scripts and movies. Beginning with the basics, you will learn how a screenplay is built, with emphasis on character and structure, dialogue and scene-building, genre, theme, goals, and knowing your audience. There may be spoilers for both classic and recent films like Avengers: Infinity War so come prepared. With David Raines. You will be emailed the Zoom link 24 hours before the start of class.
