Description:
Join Nature and Culture for a (virtual) birdwatching adventure through Peru! About this Event As we face challenging times together, Nature and Culture International invites you to our happy place: nature. Join Nature and Culture for virtual birdwatching in Peru, a birder’s paradise. Whether you’re an experienced birder or just a beginner, the country’s stunning species are sure to delight. Nature and Culture conservationist Oscar Franco will be our field guide, sharing the adventures and challenges behind protecting Peru’s winged creatures.

Peru is filled with species dwelling in unique and fragile habitats, large migratory birds arriving from the most remote parts of the world, and winged creatures found nowhere else on the planet. New species are being discovered every year in its cloud forests and Amazon rainforest, as well as in its Andean mountains and valleys.

Oscar Franco is a passionate conservationist who, since 2015, has been supporting the various Nature and Culture teams in Peru from Lima. In the last five years he has collaborated with political and communication advocacy campaigns that led to the creation of the Maijuna – Kichwa Reserve; secured financing to protect the Gocta Falls, home to the marvelous spatuletail hummingbird; and led strategic planning for three conservation landscapes that Nature and Culture is designing in the country. Oscar holds a degree in Anthropology from the Catholic University of Peru, and a master’s degree in Environmental Management from Yale University. He has dedicated 15 years to protecting Peru’s incredible landscapes and biodiversity.
